Thanksgiving is here and most people now consider the holiday season to be officially underway. Depending on the type of business you run, the holiday season could mean different things to you. Perhaps business really picks up during this time of year, and you find yourself and your staff working more hours than ever. Or maybe you own the type of business that actually sees a bit of a decline during this time of year because people are focused on the holidays and aren’t looking for the type of product or service you offer at this time. Whatever the case, we think it’s likely that the holiday season impacts your business in one way or another.
Today we’d like to talk about using the holiday season to your advantage. For some of you, that might be obvious as your business may offer products or services that are tailor-made for gift giving. You hardly would have to do any proactive promotion for your business if you didn’t want to, and you’d still have a successful season. But we’d encourage you to build on what you already are doing. If you’ve had successful holiday seasons in the past, keep doing what works, but build on it. Maybe this is the year to introduce yourself to using social media to promote your holiday sale. Or maybe this is the year you decide to finally start an e-mail campaign to reach out to your current (and potential) customers and clients.
And if you have a business that really doesn’t seem to have much to offer that’s specific to the gift-giving season, take the opportunity for this slower time of year to re-evaluate how you can hit the ground running in the new year. Take some time to think about your marketing strategy and what goals you want to accomplish once business picks up again in the new year.
At Vertz Marketing, we love seeing the Milwaukee area businesses we love grow and thrive. From the bottom of our hearts we wish you a happy and successful holiday season.
